When Filipinos revolted against Spain in 1898, their Revolutionary Government issued its own stamps. The stamp was triangular in shape. The rebels issued in all 14 different stamps. The regular varieties included stamps for registration, for newspapers, seven for revenues and two for telegrams. The stamps soon lost their relationship to specific items.
